Call for the IVC Research Fellowship 2025

4 IVC Research-Fellowships

from March1^st 2025 to August 31^th 2025

The Institute Vienna Circle (IVC) offers fellowships for junior visitors (PhD students and postdocs) as well as senior visitors who wish to do research at the Institute. The maximum length of a fellowship is six months. Normally a fellowship pays €1800 gross income per month (approx. €1500 net income).

Successful applicants will normally not reside in Vienna already.

The application procedure is as follows:

(1) Applicants send the following documents to office.wienerkreis@univie.ac.at -- by the deadline of October 10^th 2024:

     a.  CV with list of publications

     b.  Exposé of the research to be undertaken during the fellowship (1-2 pages)

     c.  certificates of academic degrees

(2) Applicants arrange that two letters of recommendation are sent to office.wienerkreis@univie.ac.at, by October 10^th 2024.

(3) The heads of the IVC consider the applicants together with current members of the IVC.

(4) The heads of the IVC, together with the Dean, decide on the basis of the application papers and the consultation.

(5)  Applicants are informed about the success or failure of their application.


We expect the fellows to

- be present in Vienna during the fellowship period;

- give a research talk at one of the IVC colloquium;

- write a short written report about the research done at the IVC during their stay.

Das Institute Vienna Circle (IVC) bietet Stipendien für interessierte Wissenschaftler*innen (PhD Student*innen und Postdocs) sowie für Senior Wissenschaftler *innen, die am Institut forschen möchten.

Die Dauer eines Fellowships ist max. 6 Monate. In der Regel ist jedes Fellowship mit 1800 Euro Brutto pro Monat dotiert (ca. 1500 Netto).

Die Fellowships werden in der Regel nicht an Personen vergeben, die bereits in Wien sind.

Das Prozedere zur Vergabe ist Folgendes:

(1) BewerberInnen senden bis 10. Oktober 2024 folgende Unterlagen  an office.wienerkreis@univie.ac.at:

a.       Lebenslauf mit Publikationsliste

b.       Darstellung des Forschungsvorhabens, für das das Fellowship beantragt wird (1-2 Seiten)

c.       zwei Empfehlungsschreiben

d.       Dokumente zum Nachweis der akademischen Abschlüsse

(2) Die Antragsteller veranlassen, dass zwei Empfehlungsschreiben/letters of recommendation gesendet werden an: office.wienerkreis@univie.ac.at, bis 10. Oktober 2024.

(3) Die Institutsvorstände beraten sich mit den Mitgliedern des Instituts über die BewerberInnen

(4) Die Institutsvorstände entscheiden in Rücksprache mit dem Dekan auf der Basis der Unterlagen und der Beratung über die Vergabe der Fellowships.

(5) Die BewerberInnen erhalten eine Benachrichtigung über Erhalt bzw. Nicht-Erhalt des Fellowships.

Erwartet wird von den Fellows:

- Anwesenheit in Wien im Projektzeitraum;

- Ein Forschungsvortrag in einem der IVC Kolloquien;

- Ein kurzer Bericht über die Forschungsarbeit, die im Rahmen des Projekts geleistet wurde.
